Matthew connell, D.O. – board certified in obstetrics & gynecology matthew connell, D.O., joined arizona reproductive institute after completing his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the national institutes of health in bethesda, maryland. Dr. Connell completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the university of missouri – kansas city. Washington university athletics dr. Connell went on to receive excellent training in basic reproductive endocrinology, ovulation induction, in vitro fertilization, and minimally invasive surgery during his fellowship at walter reed national military medical center and the national institutes of health. Dr. Connell is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the american board of obstetrics and gynecology.

His clinical interests encompass all aspects of male and female infertility with specific focus on recurrent pregnancy loss, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian insufficiency, diminished ovarian reserve, endometriosis, and fertility preservation.

Dr. Jun liu has over twenty years of experience in human clinical embryology and research in reproductive medicine and is best known for his researches on gamete cryopreservation. Before he joined arizona reproductive institute, he worked as embryology lab supervisor/embryologist at several national well-known IVF centers. He is proficient at all techniques in the in vitro fertilization laboratory, including conventional in vitro insemination, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), testicular and epididymal sperm preparation, embryo culture, embryo transfer and assisted hatching, oocyte and embryo cryopreservation, embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD ) /screening (PGS), semen analysis and cryopreservation, and quality control/quality assurance programs for the laboratory.

Dr. Liu has authored and coauthored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in the field of human reproduction and cryobiology, many of them focusing on fundamental research on oocyte cryopreservation. He has developed standard operational procedures for all routines in our embryology and andrology lab and implemented electronic database to enhance effective internal communication and to improve lab QC/QA. Dr. Liu believes that delicate handling, minimal manipulation, customized treatments and stringent QC/QA practices maximize our clinical pregnancy rates.

Brooke deanda, BSN is the IVF clinical coordinator at the arizona reproductive institute. Brooke graduated summa cum laude from the university of arizona with her bachelor of science in nursing and is an ASRM certified nurse for reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Brooke has worked in women’s health her entire nursing career. She joined our team in 2013 as the procedure nurse and is now the patient coordinator. She is an incredible resource for patients undergoing treatment for infertility.

Jenifer sturgeon, is one of our IVF nurse coordinators. Her role is to ensure that our patients who have to go through IVF treatment feel knowledgeable and as comfortable as possible with the process. She is an excellent teacher and easy to talk to. Her own personal struggles with infertility are what lead her in the direction of becoming a fertility nurse. After undergoing three IUI’s and four cycles of IVF herself, she is an amazing resource for patients. Her compassionate nature is what makes her an invaluable part of our team.

Leah offerdahl, is one of our IVF nurse coordinators. After growing up in tucson, leah received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from the pennsylvania state university in 2004. She returned to tucson and began a fulfilling career as a labor and delivery nurse in a high risk unit. When leah and her husband found themselves struggling with recurrent pregnancy loss and infertility, she became a patient at ARI and quickly thereafter sought to join this incredible team. Leah is very open regarding her own quest to become a mother and personal experiences with fertility treatments. Because of this, patients find her to be a great source of emotional support and that her first hand knowledge of the treatments we offer is invaluable.

Sonca koob, has been a wonderful addition to the IVF nursing team since 2016. She graduated from san diego city college with an associate degree in nursing. She has 10 years experience in maternal/infant nursing before joining ARI. She is excited to be a part of the team. She helps coordinate and teach your fertility treatment plans and assist with procedures.

Frances lazo is the senior medical assistant at the arizona reproductive institute. While frances holds the title of medical assistant, she really does much more than one job for all of us at ARI. Frances does a bit of everyone’s job and does it all extremely well. We are very fortunate to have frances, her experience and her personal skills assisting all of the patients and staff at ARI.

Jacqueline torres is the practice administrator at the arizona reproductive institute. Jacque is originally from tucson and received her bachelor of arts and her arizona teaching certificate from the university of arizona. After teaching elementary school for a number of years, we were extremely fortunate to meet jacque. From the day we first met her we all knew how gifted she is. Jacque is available to all patients no matter how simple or complex the question is.

Victoria bachman is our front office director. Victoria is in charge of scheduling and organizing patient care. Patients get to know victoria very well as she is quite helpful in many areas. Victoria is originally from tucson and has the biggest of all the smiles at ARI.
