The Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree is a research-based program emphasizing problem-solving and research skills. what is a level in education The Ed.S. degree offers two main concentrations: Instructional Technology and School Library Media. The candidate works with a 3-member committee which guides the development and implementation of the field study and reviews the candidate’s project. The value of the field-based project is seen in the ability of candidates to become more active participants and critical consumers of educational research. As candidates conduct “action research” projects, they are better equipped to inform their own practice as educators. The Instructional Technology Ed.S. program functions as a single cohort. education highest level completed Candidates are admitted once yearly for the Fall semester. Each cohort of candidates progresses through their Ed.S. coursework as a group. This provides a support system and a method for candidates to interact with each other throughout their program of study. Members of the cohort can choose one of the course sequences here.

The intended audience for this program is school library media specialists, teachers, technology specialists, and others who work in educational settings who would like to assume a leadership role in instructional technology. This program is approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission as a program leading to certification in Instructional Technology. national level education Completing the program will prepare candidates for certification, but candidates should consult with program faculty, the College of Education Graduate Academic Services Center, or the Georgia Professional Standards Commission regarding current certification rules upon entering the program. The Online Teaching and Learning Endorsement program is designed to prepare K-12 teachers to teach in a virtual school environment. The program is offered by the Instructional Technology Program in the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development and is approved as an endorsement program by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC). Candidates admitted to the program must have completed a minimum of 12 graduate semester credit hours of instructional technology coursework from a regionally accredited institution and hold a clear renewable teaching certificate, including the Technical Specialist (TS) certificate (level 4 or higher) or Permit (level 4 or higher).

Candidates in the program acquire the pedagogical skills and understandings needed for teaching in a virtual school thereby providing opportunities for K-12 students across the state equal access to a broad range of curriculum. A supporting an essential framework of instructional technology is the ability to design instruction and select strategies and media to meet the needs of all learners.

Candidates in this endorsement program will not only be immersed in the learning process as an online student but will also be involved in the instructional process as an online teacher. They will examine the application of learning theories in the design of instruction and examine best and/or promising practices and theories of online teaching and learning to practice within their K-12 virtual school.
