After coaching at ole miss, aker began his head coaching duties at magnolia heights school in senatobia, MS, and later moved on to chaminade-madonna in hollywood, fla. For ten seasons before coming to greensboro. As a head coach, aker’s high school teams won seven consecutive conference titles, and he was named coach of the year for six consecutive years. Aker coached the north state all star team twice while in mississippi, and has had numerous players go on to college baseball careers, five of whom were taken in the major league baseball players draft. Aker attended palm beach community college for two of his college seasons. At PBCC, he was named scholar athlete of the year, and made the dean’s list each semester. Aker earned all conference honors, and was picked to play in the florida junior college all star game.

As a high school standout at chaminade- madonna college prep, in hollywood, florida, aker was named the broward county district 15-3A athlete of the year for baseball, miami herald scholar athlete of the year, fort lauderdale sun-sentinel scholar athlete of the year, all-state infielder, national army- ROTC scholar athlete, and represented broward county in the state high school all- star game.

A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the spring. Our health and release forms may require a doctor’s signature (please reference your camp packet). All required forms will be collected on the first day of camp.

Guilford’s baseball team plays and practices on mcbane field, named for one of the school’s top baseball players, edgar mcbane ’14. He donated much of his time to the baseball program and at one time attended at least one guilford baseball game for 73 straight years.

McBane field is located next to alumni gym on guilford’s campus. The field has permanent dugouts for home and visiting teams, a new padded backstop, new bleacher seating for spectators, a new state-of-the-art inning-by-inning scoreboard, a brick dust warning track and a new eight-foot vinyl coated fence and windscreen. October 2008 saw more exterior improvements with a new entry plaza and terraced seating behind the backstop.

The infield was reseeded with bermuda grass in 1992, making it one of the finest playing surfaces in the area.
